                                                Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Do Metal Roof Tiles Cost?

Metal roof tiles can cost between £15 and £30 per square meter. The price is usually determined by the size, thickness, and profile of the tile. Although, it may also vary between manufacturers and retailers.

When buying roofing materials, it is important to consider any wastage that may occur during transportation. This is as some materials (i.e. concrete) are more prone to being damaged than others (i.e. metal).

You should also consider the lifespan of the material and any guarantees provided. This is as most metal roof tiles are guaranteed for 40 years. Throughout which they should not crack, chip, or leak.

It is only by considering the square meter cost, potential wastage, and overall lifespan that you can choose your roofing material. We provide this information for most products to make it easy for our customers.

How Much Does Metal Roofing Weigh?

Metal roofing can weigh as little as 7kg per square meter. This is considerably less than concrete or clay tiles, which can weigh as much as 40kg per square meter. Making them ideal for buildings with little structural support.

As well as residential homes and commercial facilities, metal roof tiles can be used on conservatories, extensions, and outbuildings. These tiles can also be used for cladding the exterior of a building.

How Many Metal Roof Tiles Will I Need?

Metal roof tiles offer considerably more coverage than most other tiles or slates. This is due to them being produced in panels at up to 1.2m in length whilst still having a broken bond appearance.

Because of this, you'll need as few as 3 tiles per square meter. This is far less than concrete or clay tiles, where you may require up to 60 tiles per square meter. The exact number required is influenced by the individual tile and pitch of your roof.

How Do You Install Metal Roofing?

Metal roofing is easy to fit due to it being incredibly lightweight and offering superb coverage. The interlocking design of most tiles also makes laying them a breeze and requires no specialist tools.

Most metal roof tiles must be fitted onto a battened roof with a breather membrane installed beneath. The tiles are typically overlapped to achieve a watertight seal that is able to withstand strong winds.

When installing metal roof tiles, you should follow the processes outlined by the manufacturer. Whilst the majority of our materials are supplied with an installation guide, you'll also find them located on individual product pages.
