                            Frequently Asked Questions

                            What is Composite Wall Cladding?

Composite cladding combines a mixture of materials to provide improved durability and longevity. This is typically a mixture of plastic and wood. These are combined with a unique resin, which helps to bind the materials and prevent splintering. Unlike traditional timber alternatives, composite cladding boards are coloured using innovative manufacturing processes, which help to prevent colours fading over time due to light or weather exposure.

How Do You Install Composite Cladding?

Whether you’re fitting cladding boards onto a brick or rendered wall, the installation process is the same. For a secure and professional finish that looks good and stands the test of time, be sure to use our purposely designed fixings, starter strips and corner trims.

An installation guide will be supplied along with your order. This will outline the entire installation process for you, including information about what tools you’ll need, and how many people the job will require.

How Much Maintenance Does Composite Cladding Require?

Unlike traditional timber, composite cladding requires minimal maintenance. This is due to the unique combination of materials (usually plastic and wood), which provides superb weather resistance. Your composite cladding boards will therefore not rot or become discoloured due to the environment, and you won’t need to apply preservatives or stains regularly.

Once installed, all you’ll need to do to keep your composite wall cladding looking its best is giving it a wipe regularly using warm water and soap. This will prevent any build-up on the cladding boards themselves, which could result in degradation of the top coating.

What is the Life Expectancy of Composite Cladding?

Composite cladding typically lasts for over 10 years, requiring minimal maintenance throughout its lifespan. Although, if you’re using traditional timber joists, this may negatively affect the life expectancy of your wall cladding. This is because timber joists tend to degrade much more quickly than those crafted from composite materials.

                            Can You Paint Composite Cladding?

Yes, it is possible to paint composite cladding yourself. However, this shouldn’t be necessary as our full range of composite cladding boards undergo full colour injection as well as the inclusion of additives, which together should prevent any colour fading over time.
